Meeting on ProHeart 6 for Dogs Set for March 24

Posted: Thursday, January 28, 2010, 3:30 p.m., EST

Meeting on ProHeart6 for Dogs Set for March 24The Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee will meet March 24 in Rockville, Md., to discuss the Risk Minimization Act Plan (RiskMAP) for ProHeart 6.

The RiskMAP goal is to manage the re-introduction of ProHeart 6 to ensure its safe, appropriate use for heartworm protection while minimizing the risk to dogs. Fort Dodge Animal Health voluntarily recalled ProHeart 6 in September 2004 to address federal safety concerns.

The Food and Drug Administration's Center for Veterinary Medicine will present the FDA’s analysis of 18 months of information collected under the RiskMAP and will seek feedback from a panel of experts.

The meeting is open to the public. Oral or written data, information and views can be presented.

Written statements may be sent by March 17 to Aleta Sindelar, CVM, (HFV-3), 7519 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855.

Oral presentations from the public are set for 1 to 2 p.m. March 24. Interested persons must notify Sindelar by March 9.

The meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rockville Hilton.

According to my computer, I have given over 13,886 doses of proheart 6 and have not seen any reaction at all and have not had any client complain about any thing about the proheart shots.

On Aug. 29, 2003 my just turned 4 year old goden retriever was given injection of this poison. On Oct. 16, 2003, just 6 weeks later, he was dead of AIHA and liver damage depsite all the valliant efforts of my vet.

Aolthought Fort Dodge denied it was their prodect that killed my beautiful boy, they did pay a big chunk of the huge vet bill and make a donation in his memory to Texas A&M vet school----without me signing a release. they knew it was killing all these dogs.

\They lied the first round and claimed it was so safe, so why the "reformulation" if it was so safe the first time. And if they lied the first time, how do we know they are not lying now? No dog of mine will EVER have this poison injectioned in his/her body. Hunter's story can be found on dogsadversereactions.com along with many otherrs.
