Welcome to the VPN Editorial Blog

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Veterinary Practice News Editors’ Blog! With the launch of our redesigned website, the editors felt compelled to participate in this popular and important venue of online information and opinion sharing.

We hope our readers--veterinarians, technicians, nurses, assistants, receptionists, industry professionals, and the like--will enjoy reading our weekly blog and feel welcome to participate in discussions. The editors will blog about news, medicine, practice management and business, animals, clients, and really anything that affects the world of veterinary medicine, including our own experiences and topics we’ve covered in the magazine.

There are many exciting topics to talk about in veterinary medicine today, the most important of which is that vet medicine is a growth industry.

New technology is changing the face of what it means to offer high-quality medicine. From digital cameras to digital X-rays, interactive client communication systems, telemedicine capabilities, lasers, ultrasound, post-operatory rehabilitation and complementary medicine modalities, practitioners have so many options for treating patients with the best-of-the-best technology.

Increased attention and research into complementary and alternative medicine treatments is broadening the horizon for practitioners to integrate evidence-based CAM to their practices. And with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the year-ago pet-food recall, pet owners are more tuned in to what they feed their pets, and they are demanding information on nutritional and herbal supplements, as well as natural pet foods to offer their pets.

The faces of new practitioners graduating from veterinary schools are changing, too. This new generation, the majority of which are women, are morphing the way practices are managed with their new ideas on work-life balance and the need to interact more closely with their bosses and their colleagues.

Information technology is necessary for the new generations and becoming more important among seasoned professionals. These are just a few of the hot topics buzzing in the veterinary industry and the editors follow these trends closely.

We hope that VetPracticeNews.com offers an outlet for learning, conversing and experiencing the many branches of veterinary medicine in the world today.
