Pfizer Animal Health is now offering Advocin, a fluoroquinolone alternative for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD). With a withdrawal time of four days and a single 2 mL/100 pound dose, Advocin provides cattle veterinarians and producers with a convenient alternative for treating BRD. Advocin is available in 250 mL bottles with about 25 treatments per bottle based on a 500-pound animal.

Organics4Horses has introduced the Equimed family of products that uses a bio-based technology to control the most common hoof and skin problems of horses. Available products include body and hoof wash, hoof oil, show shampoo and stable spray. The manufacturer says the products’ ingredients are non-toxic and groundwater safe. They can be used to wash and treat anywhere, and are safe for use with pregnant and nursing mares, foals and stallions. Humans do not need gloves or masks when using the products because they do not stain, cause chemical burns or have noxious fumes.

Novartis Animal Health has introduced NUPLURA PH, a vaccine for beef and dairy cattle that provides fast-acting protection against bovine pneumonia caused by Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica. M haemolytica, formerly known as Pasteurella, is a highly transmittable bacteria and a leading cause of bovine respiratory disease complex. Novartis says NUPLURA PH is the first and only U.S. cattle vaccine developed with recombinant technology. It contains only purified leukotoxin to deliver the strongest immune response with minimal reactivity.
