Equine Emergency & Critical Care for Advanced Practitioner – A 2-Day Practical Course

This 2-day practical course was designed for equine practitioners and veterinary technicians with a good working knowledge in the field of equine emergency and critical care. The world-renowned specialists will report on new developments and share invaluable tips and tricks on how to efficiently diagnose and treat critically ill patients in a private clinic setting. Each of the following hot topics will be addressed via well-illustrated, interactive case-discussions providing a platform for the panel to also share pitfalls and erroneous clinical conclusions:

Between both afternoons, 7 hours of practical sessions will allow attendees to expand their diagnostic and therapeutic skills in small groups (2 – 4 attendees / ultrasound machine) on live horses and cadaver specimens and under the supervision of specialists. Each attendee will rotate through the following practical/case-based sessions:

Diagnostic & Therapeutic Techniques for Ophthalmologic Emergencies
Fluid Therapy Calculations – CRIs & Using Fluid Pumps
Trocharization Techniques, Joint Injections, Ultrasound-guided CSF Collection & Tracheostomies
Abdominal Ultrasound (incl. FLASH & Abdominocentesis)
Use of Point of Care Device (iSTAT, SAA, Glucometer, Lactate Meter, etc.)
Upper & Lower Airway Endoscopy (incl. BAL/TW) & Guttural Pouch Endoscopy

The course fee includes lunches, coffee/tea breaks, a wine & cheese reception, extensive electronic course notes and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to only attend the lectures (= Lectures Only) on this course or can register for the entire course (= Lectures & Practical Sessions). Early course registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available.
