A generic formulation of robenacoxib tablets for use in cats has received full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to the update, the product is indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy, and castration in cats at least four months old and weighing at least 5.5 lbs. The recently approved tablets contain robenacoxib, the same active ingredient found in the brand-name product Onsior, which received FDA approval in 2011. The agency determined that the generic formulation is bioequivalent to the reference drug. For more information, visit the FDA website.
