Who will be this year’s top American Hero Veterinarian and American Hero Veterinary Technician? American Humane is seeking that answer by announcing that voting is open for their fourth annual American Humane Hero Veterinarian and Hero Veterinary Technician Awards. Sponsored by Zoetis, this annual contest lets pet owners and other veterinary professionals pick a veterinarian and vet tech to receive top honors at the American Humane Hero Dog Awards. This year, after receiving more than 200 nominations, a panel of experts choose 10 finalists: 5 veterinarians and 5 vet techs. Voting is now open until July 27, 2017. "Our 181 nominated Hero Veterinarians and Hero Veterinary Technicians are outstanding examples of the veterinary community," said J. Michael McFarland, DVM, DABVP, group director of companion animal marketing at Zoetis. "The American Humane Hero Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician Awards are Zoetis' way of giving back to those who keep our best friends healthy and strengthen the life-enhancing, even life-saving human-animal bond. Congratulations to our 10 extraordinary finalists!" Winners of the contest will be honored at the seventh annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards, sponsored by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation. The awards will also be presented on the Hallmark Channel. "Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are heroes to our animals, and to us," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane. "These dedicated professionals work behind the scenes and without fanfare to keep these family members happy and healthy. We and the nation want to thank them, one and all!"
