The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has published its 2025 One Health Guidelines, which aims to provide a structured framework for collaboration between veterinary and human health professionals. The guidelines emphasize a unified approach to health care that considers the interconnected well-being of people, animals, and the environment. They encourage veterinary teams to recognize how their work intersects with human health—from zoonotic disease prevention to supporting the human-animal bond—and to engage in cross-disciplinary partnerships when appropriate. The document consists of five sections on standardized terminology, principles for family-centered care, grounding principles for a One Health system, a roadmap for interprofessional communication, and case scenarios addressing issues, such as zoonotic disease, disability, and intimate partner violence. AAHA says the goal is to help veterinary practices integrate One Health thinking into daily care, strengthening outcomes for patients, families, and communities.
