Pethealth To Distribute PetArmor To Shelters

Pethealth Inc. will officially be the licensed distributor of Velcera’s FidoPharm Inc.’s products.

Pethealth Inc. of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and Velcera Inc. of Yardley, Pa., have inked an exclusive distribution deal that will see Pethealth distribute Velcera’s FidoPharm Inc.’s products, notably PetArmor (fipronil) flea and tick control products, to animal welfare organizations in the United States.

Currently Pethealth licenses its PetPoint animal management software system to nearly 1,800 animal welfare organizations in the U.S. The company also provides organizations with its 24PetWatch microchip programs and ShelterCare pet insurance program.

“The incorporation of the FidoPharm product lines into our growing suite of B-to-B offerings to our partner shelters is consistent with our desire to bend the operating cost curve for animal welfare groups and maximize the efficiencies of the PetPoint platform by allowing licensed users to complete all their ordering and manage their inventory through our application,” said Mark Warren, president and CEO of Pethealth Inc.

Pethealth will also support the promotion and sale of FidoPharm products through its national sales team, call center and online efforts.

In addition to PetArmor, a generic version of Merial’s Frontline Top Spot flea control product, FidoPharm markets PetTrust Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel), a generic version of Merial’s Heartgard Plus heartworm and parasite preventive.

The agreement runs through 2013, at which point the companies will have the option to renew for additional one-year periods.
