CVS Pharmacy CVS Health has begun dispensing select prescription medications for dogs and cats at its approximately 9,000 U.S. locations, expanding options for veterinary clients seeking convenient prescription fulfillment. Eligible medications include some antibiotics, allergy treatments, flea and tick products, insulin, and pain relievers. Pet owners may present a written prescription or ask their veterinarian to contact the pharmacy directly. The medications can be picked up in the store or delivered. Clients can also add pets to their CVS.com profiles and manage eligible prescriptions through the CVS Health app. CVS said electronic prescribing capabilities and other service enhancements for pet medications are planned in coming months. “We’re proud to be a trusted partner in our patients’ health care journeys,” said Sid Tenneti, senior vice president and interim president, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness, CVS Health. “With the addition of pet medication dispensing, CVS Pharmacy can now serve every member of the family.” For veterinary professionals, the service may offer another dispensing pathway for commonly prescribed medications, particularly when local availability, refill management or delivery options are important to clients.
