Canine itch relief supported via grant program

Soothing allergic itch and inflammation in shelter dogs is the goal of a newly launched program from Zoetis.

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of its Apoquel (oclacitinib) anti-itch tablet, the company has launched a donation grant program for pet shelters across the U.S. The offering will enable 10 shelters to provide allergic itch relief to approximately 1,000 dogs in total.

“Providing pet shelters with the ability to alleviate allergic itch for dogs in their care reinforces our commitment to enhancing the health of pets,” says Andrew Hillier, BVSc, MANZCVS (Canine Medicine), DACVD, director of specialty and dermatology strategy (U.S. Petcare) at Zoetis. “Supporting healthy pet adoptions in communities where our colleagues and customers live and work further strengthens our mission to take care of pets, just like pets take care of us.”

The selected shelters will be announced in August to mark “Itchy Pet Awareness Month.”

To be eligible, shelters must:

• be enrolled in ‘Zoetis For Shelters’ by June 23, 2023
• have an annual intake of at least 100 dogs
