Help Choose ‘Hero’ Vet, Vet TechMay 19, 2016Already heroes in many ways, five veterinarians and five veterinary technicians are in the running for national recognition. The American Humane Association today launched public voting on the third annual Hero Veterinarian and Hero Veterinary Technician awards. One winner in each category will be honored Sept. 10 along with several hero dogs at an awards presentation in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast at a later date on the Hallmark Channel. The veterinary finalists were chosen from among nearly 300 nominees. The public voting runs through July 21 at www.herovetawards.org. “To us, all vets and vet techs are heroes,” said Robin Ganzert, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Washington, D.C.-based American Humane Association. “Behind every hero dog is a hero vet and vet tech.” The finalists, all profiled on the contest website, are: Hero Veterinarian Jennifer Dunlap (Somerville, Tenn.)
