Veterinarians: Get ready to be appreciated. The 3rd annual Veterinarian Appreciation Day, created by Seattle-based pet insurance company, Trupanion, is on June 18.

Starting in 2015, Trupanion created Veterinarian Appreciation Day to honor the work and dedication of medical professionals in more than 28,000 veterinary hospitals throughout North America.

“Veterinarians play a tremendous role in keeping the pets we love healthy,” said Darryl Rawlings, Trupanion founder and chief executive officer. “Our pets are members of the family. We owe it to them to take care of every medical need so they can live long and happy lives. Too often, we take veterinarians for granted because they are always there, day and night, to take care of our pets. On Veterinarian Appreciation Day, we honor these truly compassionate medical professionals and say thank you for everything they do.”

Pet owners can find more information on the Trupanion website, and by tagging their veterinarian or veterinary practice in a photo on social media and using the hashtag #ThankAVeterinarian.

Trupanion’s blog will also feature special profiles on outstanding veterinarians throughout the month of June.

“We encourage everyone to use this occasion to celebrate the veterinarians we love who take care of the pets we love,” added Rawlings.
