The findings from the initiative will contribute to the association’s Global State of Companion Animal Veterinary Practice Report, to be published later in 2026.

A better understanding of the realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping companion animal practices is at the core of a new global survey launched by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA).

Open to anyone working in the clinical settings of companion animal practices, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary nurses, the survey aims to form the basis of the association's upcoming Global State of Companion Animal Veterinary Practice Report. The report, set to be released later in 2026, is a new WSAVA publication designed to provide critical insights to support veterinary professionals, strengthen national associations, and inform global advocacy and action.

"This survey represents [a] unique opportunity to better understand the realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping companion animal veterinary practice around the world," WSAVA president Dr. Jim Berry says in a release. "By listening directly to veterinary professionals, we can help ensure that future initiatives, advocacy efforts, and educational resources are informed by the real needs and experiences of our global community. We are extremely grateful to the Purina Institute for supporting this landmark project."
