The Fourth annual International Equine Conference on Laminitis and Disease of the Foot will be held in Florida.

The Fourth International Equine Conference on Laminitis and Disease of the Foot will be held Nov. 2-4 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Michael Matz, who was the trainer of 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, will be the featured speaker. Barbaro’s owners, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, will be honored at the event, as well as John and Marianne Castle, the driving force behind the conference.

The Castles granted the seed money for the First Laminitis Conference in 2001 in memory of their Appaloosa named Spot that became afflicted with laminitis.

In addition to the Castles, sponsors include Merial, of Duluth, Ga.; Thoroughbred Charities of America; and Purina Mills, of St. Louis.

The conference is a joint effort of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary medicine, The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
