NAVC SkillShop, a rebrand of the organization’s NAVC Institute, will offer educational courses with multiple days focused on a specific veterinary skill. For the first time, participants can choose from a variety of one- or two-day courses, longer three- to four-day courses, or a combination of both. “NAVC SkillShop maintains the best of the NAVC Institute–the opportunity to learn and hone new skills veterinary professionals can put into immediate practice–with additional flexibility to customize the length and focus of their program,” says NAVC chief veterinary officer Dana Varble, DVM, CAE. “So they can stay two days or one week, learn one course or two (or four!)–whatever works best for their schedules and career goals.” First NAVC SkillShop will happen on May 25-30, 2025 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. The course highlights include: Long-format, four-to-five-day courses on basic and intermediate small animal ultrasound and practical orthopedic surgical techniques. Two-to-three-day courses on small animal anesthesia for the practice team, soft tissue surgery techniques, and Instructor Certification RECOVER CPR - Basic and Advanced Life Support. One-day short-format courses on Exotic Companion Mammal Emergencies - How to Keep them Alive, Avian Clinical Techniques and Surgery, and Rescuer Certification RECOVER CPR - Basic and Advanced Life Support, and basic soft tissue surgery The rebranded event will also introduce updates to the exhibit hall, offering new Demo Days presentations on Monday and Tuesday evenings, where participants and local veterinary professionals can learn about products and tools showcased on stage by exhibitors.
