Fishhook

Ford, a seven-year-old neutered male Labrador retriever, was presented for a wellness visit after ingesting a fishing hook. A right lateral abdominal radiograph was performed. Results: Single barbed fishhook identified in the stomach with ingesta consistent with food/squid bait. Endoscopic retrieval under general anesthesia was pursued. Endoscopic foreign body retrieval - Approved - Single barbed hook grasped with rat-toothed forceps and removed using a protective sleeve via endoscopy. Post-procedure, recovery was rapid with normal vital signs at discharge.
