Zoetis becomes first Human-Animal Bond-certified companyMay 3, 2019Zoetis is the first company to become Human-Animal Bond certified. More than two dozen company employees completed the program, and were taught the science behind the human-animal bond. The employees were also shown how this science supports the practice of veterinary medicine. The certification program was created by the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) and the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI). "For years, Zoetis has been a leading advocate of the bond between humans and animals, and we are honored to have earned this important certification," says Zoetis Petcare marketing executive director, J. Michael McFarland, DVM, DABVP, chair of the HABRI board of trustees. "Veterinarians play a key role in strengthening the relationship between animals and people, and Zoetis is committed to helping them, their clients, and the animals they care for experience the benefits of the human-animal bond." Zoetis named one of America's best employers, says ForbesApril 18, 2019For the fourth year in a row, Zoetis has been named one of America's best midsize employers, according to Forbes Magazine. The list comprises 150 companies. It is based on an independent survey among a sample of 50,000 American employees working for companies with at least 1,000 people in their U.S. operations. The most important factor in the assessment was the willingness to recommend one's own employer. Employees were consulted anonymously through online access panels allowing them to express their opinions. Zoetis's K-9 Courage Program honors retired veteran dogsMarch 13, 2019Today is National K9 Veterans Day, and Zoetis's K-9 Courage Program has partnered up with Mission K9 Rescue to celebrate four-legged veterans. K-9 Courage supports approximately 650 dogs every year by providing the owner of each dog with a $300 debit card, which can be put toward veterinary expenses. The "Paws and Give Thanks" campaign focuses on retired military and police dogs that have had an impact on the safety of the public and continue to live happily with the help of the program. American Humane announces 2018 Hero Vet, Vet Nurse, Dog awardsOctober 2, 2018American Humane has announced the winners of the 2018 American Humane Hero Veterinarian, Veterinary Nurse, and Dog awards. 2018 American Humane Hero Veterinarian Award Throughout his career, David Chico, VMD, MPH, of Albany, N.Y., has been committed to the betterment of the health and well-being of animals, fostering the important human-animal bond. Ten years ago, Dr. Chico created a free quarterly pet wellness clinic in partnership with Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) to provide veterinary care to low-income, HIV-positive pet owners. As part of his continued support, he answers emergency calls at all hours and makes house calls for those too ill to visit the clinic.
